SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 1991 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Jordan, <br /> Commissioners Anthony, Berglund, <br /> Lloyd, Metzdorf and Sharp <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Truscelli <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Park & Recreation <br /> Superintendent Hartman, Housing <br /> Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas, <br /> Library Supervisor Hamilton and <br /> Secretary Monroe <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Executive Director Maria <br /> Bransford <br /> Chairperson Jordan called the regular meeting of the Senior Affairs <br /> Commission to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada <br /> Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Commissioner Anthony requested that a correction be made to the June <br /> minutes under Item 3-Transportation. He wanted it clarified that SamTrans <br /> would try to incorporate a taxi program into their system during fiscal <br /> year 91-92 which began July 1, 1991. Director Bransford said that under <br /> Item 5, a correction needed to be made to the statement regarding delivery <br /> of meals by TEWCI. She stated that TEWCI does the assessments but does not <br /> deliver the meals. Commissioner Berglund mentioned that under Item 5 was <br /> the comment that the average meal donation was $2.00 and he indicated that <br /> the average donation is usually lower than $2.00. The minutes were <br /> approved as corrected. <br /> Director Bransford said that she has received a verbal commitment from the <br /> Area Agency on Aging that they will restore $6,500 to TEWCI's nutrition <br /> program on the basis that it will assist with outreach services. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> No correspondence was received. <br /> ITEM 1 - City Housing Program - Debbie Jones-Thomas <br /> Housing Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas explained that the City has funds <br /> devoted to housing and the primary source of those funds (20%) is from <br /> Redevelopment. The second major source of those funds is from the Federal <br /> Government. The Housing Department has available Community Development <br /> Block Grant Funds (CDBG), which in fiscal year 91-92 have been divided <br /> among 15 community agencies. Some of the groups who are receiving funds <br /> are the Human Investment Program, Center for the Independence of the <br /> Disabled, three different emergency shelter programs, Second Harvest Food <br />
