SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF OCTOBER 12,1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson Lloyd, Commissioners <br /> Capone, Jordan, Metzdorf and Newell <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioner Sharp <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Interim Recreation <br /> Supervisor Marianne Mannia, Library Supervisor Val <br /> Hamilton, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to <br /> order at 9:05am by Vice Chairperson Lloyd at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, <br /> 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the September meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -Superintendent Hartman handed out nomination forms for the 1994 <br /> Sequoia Awards. The Sequoia Awards recognizes an outstanding student, <br /> individual, and business for their community service. Deadline for the <br /> nominations is October 31, 1994. <br /> ITEM 1-FOLLOW-UP DISCUSSION ON PARKING REGULATIONS, <br /> VIOLATIONS,ENFORCEMENT <br /> Supervisor Mannia has contacted the Police Department to have the <br /> Community Policing Officer for the area contact her regarding the recent <br /> security problems at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. No one has <br /> contacted her as of yet. <br /> ITEM 2-REPORT ON MEETING RELATED TO CHILD CARE ISSUES <br /> Supervisor Mannia reported she attended part of a brainstorming meeting <br /> regarding developing closer ties with the senior community. The group is <br /> interested in dealing with the problems facing children in the community <br /> and would like to get the seniors' viewpoint and they discussed holding town <br /> meetings or forums to get the seniors involved.
