SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY,JANUARY 11, 1995 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners <br /> Capone, Lloyd, Metzdorf and Newell <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Jordan <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Financial Services Manager Judy Somers, Housing <br /> Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas, Noreen Donohue <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Linda Griffith, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to <br /> order at 9:05am by Chairperson Lloyd at the Veterans Senior Center Annex, <br /> 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the December meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Superintendent Hartman introduced Tova Sweet who has been appointed <br /> the new Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor for the Veterans Memorial <br /> Senior Center. <br /> Commissioner Newell submitted a petition from the John Gill School PTA to <br /> request installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Myrtle and Jefferson <br /> due to traffic safety problems. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 2-HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICE NEED FOR SENIORS <br /> Housing Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas announced the City Council will <br /> be reviewing the criteria for the Human Services Financial Assistance and the <br /> Community Block Grant Fund programs at their January 16 meeting. In <br /> order to streamline the process and eliminate duplication, it has been <br /> recommended that both programs be combined into one. She also <br /> announced the Main-Middlefield Committee will be meeting on January 19 <br /> at 7:00pm in the Library Community Room. The committee will be hearing <br /> proposals from two developers regarding the project. Both developers must <br /> guarantee information for rent through the life of the Redevelopment Grant <br /> (Year 2024). One proposal includes a Section 8 component and 85 units and <br />
