SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY,JANUARY 11, 1995 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Anthony, Commissioners Capone, Lloyd, Metzdorf and Newell COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Jordan GUESTS PRESENT: Financial Services Manager Judy Somers, Housing Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas, Noreen Donohue STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor Linda Griffith, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order at 9:05am by Chairperson Lloyd at the Veterans Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the December meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE Superintendent Hartman introduced Tova Sweet who has been appointed the new Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor for the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. Commissioner Newell submitted a petition from the John Gill School PTA to request installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Myrtle and Jefferson due to traffic safety problems. The following items were taken out of order: ITEM 2-HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICE NEED FOR SENIORS Housing Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas announced the City Council will be reviewing the criteria for the Human Services Financial Assistance and the Community Block Grant Fund programs at their January 16 meeting. In order to streamline the process and eliminate duplication, it has been recommended that both programs be combined into one. She also announced the Main-Middlefield Committee will be meeting on January 19 at 7:00pm in the Library Community Room. The committee will be hearing proposals from two developers regarding the project. Both developers must guarantee information for rent through the life of the Redevelopment Grant (Year 2024). One proposal includes a Section 8 component and 85 units and
