SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY,JUNE 14, 1995 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Lloyd, Commissioners <br /> Capone, Mooney, Moran, Newell, <br /> Penna and Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Berenice Metzdorf, Vice Mayor Jim Hartnett, Mary Ann <br /> Robinson, Jack Anthony, Sheila Fellows, Kathy Kunst <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Linda Griffith, Library Supervisor Val Hamilton, and <br /> Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to <br /> order at 9:05am by Chairperson Lloyd at the Senior Center Annex, <br /> 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the May meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> ITEM 1-PRESENTATION OF PLAQUE TO BERENICE METZDORF <br /> Vice Mayor Jim Hartnett thanked former Commissioner Berenice Metzdorf <br /> for her work on the Senior Affairs Commission and presented her with a <br /> plaque of appreciation. Former Commissioner Jack Anthony was also in <br /> attendance and it was noted that he received his plaque at the City Council <br /> meeting on June 12. Superintendent Hartman expressed her thanks to <br /> Berenice and Jack for their service on the Senior Affairs Commission. <br /> ITEM 2-ELDER ABUSE REPORT <br /> Sheila Fellows of the Aging and Adult Services Division of the San Mateo <br /> County Department of Health spoke about the services provided by her <br /> division. The Aging and Adult Services Division provides services to <br /> seniors, frail elderly, and dependent adults over 18 years of age. The <br /> Division's goal is to prevent premature hospitalization or institutionalizing <br /> of this focus group. Their mission is to address those needs and promote <br /> independence and citizen involvement. A telephone number of <br /> 1-800-TIES has been established to provide information and referral to the <br /> community. The telephone number is manned 24 hours per day by social <br />
