SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY,NOVEMBER 8, 1995 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Lloyd, Commissioners <br /> Capone, Moran, Newell and Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Mooney and Penna <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Linda Griffith, Library Supervisor Val Hamilton, and <br /> Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to <br /> order at 9:00am by Chairperson Lloyd at the Senior Center Annex, <br /> 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the September meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> ITEM 1 -REVIEW OF WORKPLAN DISCUSSION WITH CITY COUNCIL <br /> Commissioners Moran and Newell discussed the workplan presentation they <br /> made to the City Council on October 2 on behalf of the Commission. <br /> Supervisor Griffith also spoke about the presentation and stated the City <br /> Council was very interested in public safety and transportation issues for <br /> seniors. They discussed educating seniors using the Neighborhood <br /> Associations and the Community Police Officers. She said they also asked <br /> questions about peer counseling which Commissioner Newell was able to <br /> answer effectively. Councilwoman Diane Howard complimented the Senior <br /> Affairs Commissioners for their participation in attending other City <br /> meetings and the City Manager encouraged the Commissioners to continue <br /> their support of the Intergenerational Program. Supervisor Griffiths noted <br /> the November newsletter of the Veterans Senior Center includes an article <br /> on the Intergenerational Program. Commissioner Newell reviewed the City <br /> Council minutes of October 2 regarding the Commission's workplan <br /> presentation. <br />
