SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY,AUGUST 8, 1996 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Lloyd, Commissioners <br /> Anthony, Capone, Harrison, Moran, Newell and Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Executive Director Maria Bransford, John Mooney <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Manager Linda <br /> Griffith, and Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order <br /> by Chairperson Geary Lloyd at 3:07pm at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the July meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -The "Seniors on the Move" meeting with Jackie Spier has been changed to <br /> October 14. <br /> -Chairperson Lloyd gave Manager Linda Griffiths a nomination form for the <br /> "People Who Care" awards program. <br /> -There will be a blood drive on September 7 at the American Legion Hall. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 3-TEWCI UPDATE <br /> Superintendent Centeno reported she met with Executive Director Maria <br /> Bransford to discuss the TEWCI proposal. Executive Director Bransford <br /> reported that the TEWCI Board has met and approved the proposal to <br /> develop an RFP to have other non-profits use available space at the Fair Oaks <br /> Senior Center. She will be meeting with Magda Gonzalez to develop the RFP <br /> packet. Executive Director Bransford stated the TEWCI playground is now <br /> complete and a dedication ceremony will be held September 7 at 3:00pm at the <br /> park which is located at Huntington and Dumbarton Streets. She noted <br /> TEWCI will begin a campaign to request funding for the Senior Center. A <br /> funding proposal has already been submitted to a local foundation. <br />
