SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY,JANUARY 9, 1997 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Walsh, Commissioners <br /> Anthony, Harrison, Lloyd, Moran (arrived 3:20pm) and Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Newell <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise <br /> Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order <br /> by Chairperson Walsh at 3:00pm at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada <br /> Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> Marie Walsh was sworn in as the newest Senior Affairs Commissioner by <br /> Superintendent Corinne Centeno. She was warmly welcomed to the <br /> Commission by Chairperson Walsh. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the November meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -The Commissioners received a copy of a report from the City Council Ad <br /> Hoc Committee on Boards and Commission. Superintendent Centeno <br /> summarized the recommendations of the committee and discussed them <br /> with the Commissioners. <br /> -At the request of Housing Coordinator Debbi Jones-Thomas, Superintendent <br /> Centeno announced the process has begun for CDBG funding requests. <br /> Deadline for the funding requests is January 27, 1997. Members of the <br /> Commission had raised the issue of support to homebound seniors to the <br /> Housing and Human Concerns Committee. <br /> The following items were taken out of order: <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Anthony requested to extend the deadline of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center Operations Review until the April meeting. The <br /> Commissioners agreed to his request. <br />
