SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 1997 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Walsh, Commissioners <br /> Anthony, Harrison, Lloyd, Moran (arrived <br /> 3:15pm), Newell and Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Alex Meyer, Gene Jennett, Hector Berglund, Pauline <br /> Truscelli, Vince Truscelli, Helen Cocco, Executive Director Maria <br /> Bransford <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Manager Linda <br /> Griffith, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order <br /> by Chairperson Leo Walsh at 3:07pm at the Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The Special Meeting minutes of July 23, 1997 were changed to reflect <br /> Chairperson Walsh in attendance rather than Chairperson Lloyd. The Special <br /> Meeting minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> Commissioner Newell requested a correction to the July 10, 1997 minutes. <br /> Under Item 2a. the third sentence should read, "Commissioner Newell inquired <br /> about what topics the Mayor would be addressing at the Commission's luncheon <br /> and hoped that the topics would include the needs and interests of seniors in the <br /> Redwood City community." The minutes of the July 10, 1997 meeting were <br /> approved as corrected. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> A letter was received from Assemblyman Byron Sher which noted the pending <br /> pieces of legislation which dealt with senior issues. Manager Griffith said copies <br /> of this letter have been placed in public locations in the Veterans Senior Center. <br /> ITEM 1 -VETERANS MEMORIAL SENIOR CENTER REVIEW REPORT <br /> Chairperson Walsh reviewed the discussion and voting process to be followed <br /> on each of the nine items summarized in the Veterans Memorial Senior Center <br /> Operations Review Report. <br />
