SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, JULY 9, 1998 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Walsh, Commissioners Lloyd, and <br /> Moran <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Harrison and Walsh <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Colleen Jordan <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Leo Walsh at 3:05pm at the Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada <br /> Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Moran/Lloyd: To approve the June minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Superintendent Centeno read a letter of resignation from Commissioner Bill <br /> Newell. <br /> ITEM 1 — CHAIRPERSON'S REPORT <br /> -Discussion of shifts in location of meeting, time and day of week <br /> The Commissioners discussed a change in meeting location and time/day of <br /> week. <br /> M/S Moran/Lloyd: To change the regularly scheduled meetings of the Senior <br /> Affairs Commission to the second Thursday of each <br /> month at 9:30am in the Redwood Room of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 2— WORKPLAN UPDATES <br /> -Economic Development Luncheon, Future Plans <br /> The luncheon has been set for Tuesday, September 1 at Caffe Amore at <br /> 1 :00pm and tour of the new City Hall facility will be offered following the <br /> luncheon. Mayor Diane Howard will speak at the luncheon and comment on <br /> upcoming developments in Redwood City. <br /> ITEM 3 — UPDATE ON BOARD AND COMMISSION RECRUITMENT <br /> Superintendent Centeno explained the recruitment process and stated that <br /> one additional applicant, Carolyn Nobles, applied for the Senior Affairs <br /> Commission. Recruitment letters were sent to all luncheon attendees, <br /> churches and neighborhood associations. People who responded to the <br />
