SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 1999 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Moran, Commissioners Borgens, <br /> Carpe, Nobles, L.Walsh and M.Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Harrison <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Paul Zulak, John Baker, Dr. Roger Willey <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Administrative Assistant <br /> Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Betty Moran at 1 :00pm in the Redwood Room of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Guest Paul Zulak introduced himself to the Commission. He is an <br /> occupational therapist who recently moved into the area and is looking to <br /> become involved in senior issues. <br /> Commissioner Leo Walsh noted that BFI is being purchased by a larger firm <br /> who is also assuming their large debt. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S M.Walsh/Borgens: To approve the February minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Chairperson Moran announced she received a copy of City Manager Ed <br /> Everett's weekly newsletter and shared it with the other Commissioners. <br /> ITEM 1 — UPDATE ON CONTACT WITH CONGRESSWOMAN ANNA <br /> ESHOO'S OFFICE REGARDING HEALTH CARE AND POSSIBLE FUTURE <br /> MEETING <br /> Commissioner Leo Walsh stated he received a phone call 2-3 weeks ago from <br /> Mrs. Chapman of Congresswoman Anna Eshoo's Palo Alto Office in response <br /> to his previous calls regarding health care. Mrs. Chapman asked to set up a <br /> meeting with Congresswoman Eshoo and representatives from the Senior <br /> Affairs Commission on April 8 at 4:15pm in her Palo Alto office. <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh will send Congresswoman Eshoo a copy of our <br /> resolution and other materials in preparation for the meeting. Commissioner <br /> Marie Walsh volunteered to attend the meeting with Commissioner Leo <br /> Walsh. <br /> Commissioner Leo Walsh stated Catholic Health Care West will be <br /> distributing a needs assessment and he will try to acquire a copy of the <br />
