SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Thursday, January 13, 2000 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Vice Chairperson Harrison, Commissioners <br /> Borgens, Nobles, and M. Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Carpe, Moran, L.Walsh <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Judy Buchan, Susanne Donohoe-Bombosch <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Vice Chairperson Jean Harrison at 1 :00pm in Room 20 of the Senior Center <br /> Annex, 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br /> It was reported that Commissioner Carpe had surgery due to a broken hip <br /> and is currently at Sequoia Hospital. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S M.Walsh/J.Borgens: To approve the minutes of the December 9, 1999 <br /> meeting. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> There was no correspondence. <br /> ITEM 1 — APPROVAL OF LETTER TO CHIEF BOLANOS REQUESTING A <br /> MEETING TO GATHER INFORMATION ON ELDER ABUSE IN OUR <br /> COMMUNITY <br /> Commissioner Nobles reported that she drafted a letter to Chief Carlos <br /> Bolanos requesting a meeting with Commission representatives to discuss <br /> elder abuse. Commissioners M.Walsh and Nobles will represent the <br /> Commission. All the Commissioners reviewed the letter and agreed that it <br /> should be sent to Chief Bolanos. <br /> ITEM 2 — UPDATE ON TARGET EDUCATION AND WELFARE COUNCIL, FAIR <br /> OAKS SENIOR CENTER ISSUES <br /> Superintendent Centeno stated that the selection process is a bit behind due <br /> to holidays. As the result of a stakeholder meeting, the committee has <br /> identified two groups they would like to speak to further about operating the <br /> facility. The two groups identified were the Family Service Agency and <br /> Catholic Charities, and the committee hopes to meet with each group by the <br /> end of January. She noted that TEWCI will be vacating the facility by June <br /> 30, 2000. <br />
