SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2000 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Moran, Commissioners Borgens, <br /> Carpe, Grove (arrived 1:30pm), Harrison, L. <br /> Walsh, and M. Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe, <br /> Manager Linda Griffith <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Betty Moran at 1:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, <br /> 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S M.Walsh/L.Walsh: To approve the September minutes as <br /> mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Chairperson Moran read two letters, one from Congresswoman Anna Eshoo <br /> and the other from Richard Gordon, President of the Board of Supervisors. <br /> Both letters were in response to letters the Commission had written to them <br /> regarding the health care crisis in San Mateo County. Copies of the letters <br /> will be sent to all the Commissioners. <br /> Commissioner Carpe spoke about the issue of the lack of public seating at <br /> Sequoia Station. This item will be placed on the December agenda. <br /> ITEM 1 - DETERMINING NEED OF REDWOOD SHORES SENIOR <br /> POPULATION <br /> Chairperson Moran stated that Councilwoman Jordan brought up this subject <br /> at a recent Council meeting. Supervisor Jan Knight at the Sandpiper <br /> Community Center was contacted regarding this matter and she stated that <br /> Sandpiper staff has not received any requests for senior services from the <br /> Redwood Shores community. Manager Linda Griffith reported that several <br /> Redwood Shores seniors come to the Veterans Memorial Senior Center for <br /> services and classes. Superintendent Centeno will ask that Supervisor Knight <br /> to place an article in both Redwood Shores newsletters asking for input on <br />
