SENIOR AFFAIRS COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 2001 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Harrison, Commissioners <br /> Borgens, Carpe, Grove, L. Walsh and M. Walsh <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Moran <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Ethel Robinson, Laura Fanucchi, Council <br /> Member Barbara Pierce <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Manager Linda Griffith, Secretary Denise Monroe, <br /> Administrative Clerk Kathy Bede <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Jean Harrison at 1:00pm in the Redwood Room of the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S M. Walsh/Carpe: To approve the February minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The Commissioners received the February edition of the Veterans Memorial <br /> Senior Center newsletter. <br /> -Commissioner Grove reported she sent letters and made phone calls to the <br /> principals of Sequoia and Woodside High Schools to invite two of their <br /> journalism students to the Jerry Fuchs luncheon but has received no <br /> response. Commissioner Borgens will follow up with the principal at Sequoia <br /> High School and Chairperson Harrison will follow up with the principal at <br /> Woodside. <br /> -Commissioner Borgens reported that she and Commissioner M. Walsh <br /> attended a General Plan update meeting on Tuesday, March 6 and she noted <br /> that there will be subsequent meetings to follow. It was noted that most of <br /> the Commissioners received the meeting notice on Saturday, March 3 which <br /> did not provide enough notice to attend the meeting. <br /> -Chairperson Harrison reported that she contacted Peninsula Conflict <br /> Resolution Center regarding an item from the February meeting. She was <br /> advised that Sequoia Hospital is still collecting the parcel tax but the funds <br /> are being held separately and are used for education and scholarships, and <br /> are not going towards hospital operating costs.
