�� � <br /> Civic Cultural Commission page 2 <br /> Minutes of January 2, 1997 <br /> ITEM 1-LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere spoke aboutthe "Great Posada" held on <br /> December 18 at the Fair Oaks Library. She mentioned over 500 people <br /> attended and it was covered by two television stations. Supervisor LaRiviere <br /> reviewed the Library's January events with the Commissioners. <br /> ITEM 2-ART SHARE <br /> Commissioner Filippi explained Art Share was organized by Ruth Watters in <br /> order to form a coalition of cities supporting the arts. It provides an <br /> opportunity for cities to share and network. Annual membership in the <br /> organization is $25.00 and their meetings will be held on the 3rd Friday of <br /> each month from 11:30am-1:OOpm. Their next meeting will be january 17 <br /> in San Mateo. <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To have the Civic Cultural Commission join Art <br /> Share at a membership cost of $25.00. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Commissioner Filippi also has obtained a copy of a resources guide of art <br /> publications. It was suggested having each Commissioner review the guide <br /> to review the types of books and literature that are available for purchase. <br /> Chairperson Piulle said she will attend Art Share meetings on behalf of the <br /> Commission but would also like other Commissioners to attend. <br /> Commissoiner Ball agreed to serve as an alternate. She noted Art Share is <br /> also looking for potential board members for its organization. <br /> ITEM 3-DONATION OF REDWOOD SCULPTURE OF NEW CITY HALL <br /> Chairperson Piulle proposed waiting until the new City Hall is completed <br /> before selecting any type of art work and to send a letter to the artist Linda <br /> Bellew who wanted to donate a Redwood sculpture to the new facility. <br /> Commissioner Distefano suggested having the sub-committee formulate a <br /> response letter for any artist who wants to donate art work for the project. <br /> Commissioner Filippi felt that the Commission should send a letter to the <br /> City Council to obtain their permission to proceed further. <br /> M/S Filippi/Redington: To obtain guidance from the City Council Facilities <br /> Sub-Committee for possible locations for art in the new facility. <br /> Chairperson Piulle mentioned she will be attending the City Council <br /> Facilities Sub-Committee meeting in January. <br /> Motion passed. (5-Yes, 1-No Saye) <br />
