CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Dale (arrived 7:15pm), <br /> Commissioners Ball, Britschgi, Del Carlo, <br /> Douglas (arrived 8:05pm), and Kushin <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: John Anagnostou, G. H. Armour, Bob Parkhurst <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by Barbara <br /> Britschgi at 7:05pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 <br /> Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Ball/Kushin: To approve the January minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A variety of newsletters and announcements were received. No action <br /> required. <br /> -A letter was received from 'Tis the Season Committee thanking the <br /> Commission for their support of the 2001 'Tis the Season Event. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Bob Parkhurst of the Sequoia Art Group spoke regarding the Ledesma Art <br /> Exhibit event to be held on Thursday, February 21, 2002. He stated the Art <br /> Group is pleased to co-sponsor this event with the Commission and <br /> suggested that other paintings be hung in the places where the Ledesma art <br /> pieces are currently hanging. Mr. Parkhurst suggested that the 17 Ledesmas <br /> be rotated to different buildings after the exhibit is finished. He felt that it <br /> would give more people an opportunity to view the art work and felt it would <br /> better if all the art pieces were not in the same location to protect them <br /> against fire and other damage. He stated the Sequoia Art Group would be <br /> willing to assist in this rotation process provided the volunteers would not be <br /> liable for any damage. <br /> G. H. Armour spoke about the 2002 Miss Redwood City Scholarship Pageant <br /> including information about the contestants, judging process, community <br />
