CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Dale, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Britschgi, Del Carlo, Douglas, and Kushin <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Thirty seven (37) guests <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Warren Dale at 7:00pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Ball/Douglas: To approve the May minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Betty Travers of 27 Lowell Street stated she appeared before City Council on <br /> Monday, June 3 regarding the increase in summer concerts at Stafford Park <br /> and she read a letter to the Commission which she had previously read to <br /> Council. The letter detailed her concerns about the concerts at Stafford Park <br /> and her opinion that increasing the number of concerts would impact the <br /> quality of life for neighbors of Stafford Park. Her letter also asked the Council <br /> to overrule the Commission's decision to increase the number of concerts and <br /> to move the concerts to another venue. Mrs. Travers submitted copies of all <br /> documentation to the Commission which she had provided to the City <br /> Council. She read letters from two Stafford Park neighbors in opposition to <br /> the concerts. Mrs. Travers also requested that all neighbors who live within <br /> one block of Stafford Park and who do not wish to remain at home because <br /> of the concerts, be given $35.00 per person towards dinner for each concert <br /> held, as done by the City of Menlo Park. Chairperson Dale noted that this <br /> item was not on the agenda so the Commission could not take any action. It <br /> will be placed on the July agenda. <br /> Carol Cross of 1133 St. Francis Street asked the Commission to consider <br /> sponsoring an event entitled "First Night" which was held in Ft. Collins, <br /> Colorado earlier this year. Ms. Cross explained "First Night" is a non-alcoholic <br /> New Year's Eve event for the community and spoke about the event which <br /> features 22 different venues in downtown Ft. Collins.
