CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, JULY 11, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Dale, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Britschgi, Del Carlo, and Douglas <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Kushin and Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Elizabeth Travers, Craig Smith, Rick Orvik, Julie Powell <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Warren Dale at 7:03pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Douglas/Ball: To approve the June minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -Thank you letters were received from Redwood City School District, Mt. <br /> Carmel School, and Sequoia Art Group. <br /> -A financial report from the Redwood City School District detailing how their <br /> grant was spent. <br /> -A letter from Julie Powell of Kainos regarding their large grant request. <br /> -Several newsletters and flyers were received from various sources. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Julie Powell of Kainos apologized for not appearing at the June Commission <br /> meeting to present their large grant request. She spoke about their $2,000 <br /> grant request, which would provide art classes for developmentally disabled <br /> people. <br /> ITEM 1 — 2002 SUMMER CONCERT SERIES <br /> Chairperson Dale reviewed the process for hearing public comment and <br /> Commission questions for Item 1. Commissioner Del Carlo gave the Summer <br /> Concert Sub-Committee's recommendations on the 2002 Summer Concert <br /> Series held at Stafford Park. She stated the Commission was interested in <br /> continued monitoring of issues such as parking, trash, and noise levels from <br /> the concerts. Commissioner Ball spoke about the Commission's unsuccessful <br /> practice of rotating concerts to various City parks and the Commission's <br />
