CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, AUGUST 1, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Dale, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Britschgi, Del Carlo, Douglas, Kushin <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Bruce Codding, Orlene Chartain, Jim Sclieny, Jackie <br /> Powell, Pete Hughes <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Warren Dale at 7:03pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Chairperson Dale requested a correction be made to the July minutes under <br /> Item 1, page 2, paragraph 5. The first sentence should read: "Mrs. Travers <br /> stated she polled 10 Stafford Park neighbors and six of them would prefer not <br /> to have the concerts at Stafford." <br /> M/S Douglas/Ball: To approve the July minutes as corrected. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -Several newsletters and flyers were received from various sources. <br /> -Commissioner Douglas handed out flyers for the Middlefield Cultural Festival <br /> on Sunday, August 5. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Pete Hughes, representing the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association, <br /> spoke on behalf of their grant request. He apologized that no representative <br /> from his group was present at the large grant presentations in June. He <br /> spoke about their $4,500 grant request which would provide musical <br /> entertainment at their "Music in the Park" event on September 28. <br /> ITEM 1 - DELIBERATION AND DECISION ON LARGE GRANTS FOR <br /> FISCAL YEAR 2002-2003 <br /> Director Centeno announced that at the July 29 City Council meeting, Council <br /> Member Pierce recommended $30,000 in additional funding to the Cultural <br />
