CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2002 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Dale, Commissioners Ayala, <br /> Britschgi, Douglas (arrived 7:12pm), Kushin, <br /> Williams <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Watanabe <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Julia Ball-Dugan, Toni Carner, Seven Stafford Park <br /> neighbors, Planning Commissioner Tamara Piulle <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Warren Dale at 7:04pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The following pieces of correspondence was received: <br /> -A thank you card from former Commissioner Virginia Ball. <br /> -Letters were received from Peninsula Orchid Society, San Mateo County <br /> Colleges Foundation, Redwood City Art Center and Peninsula Symphony <br /> thanking the Commission for their grants. <br /> -Several newsletters and flyers were received from various sources. <br /> -A letter from Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Bolter of Palo Alto thanking the Commission <br /> for the "Live in Downtown" music series. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Planning Commissioner Tamara Piulle stated she attended a recent workshop <br /> where she discovered that many cities have a city theme song. She <br /> suggested that the Commission sponsor a "City Song" contest that could <br /> involve local students, the Chamber of Commerce and that would feature a <br /> prize to the winner. She said if the Commission places the matter on a future <br /> agenda, she would like to attend the meeting. <br /> ITEM 1 — DECISION ON PURCHASE OF LEDESMA PAINTING <br /> Toni Carner displayed her framed Ledesma painting to the Commission and <br /> announced she was asking a purchase price of $795.00.
