REG:yc:5 /7/65 -7
ORDINANCE NO. //30.2
ORDINANCE AMENDING SE CTI
ON 22.9 OF ORDINANCE
NO. 1130, THE REDWOOD CITY ZONING ORDINANCE,
RELATING TO TERRITORY INCLUDED IN THE IS DIS-
TRICT BY THE ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1130,
ADOPTED AS AN EMERGENCY MEASURE TO GO INTO
EFFECT IMMEDIATELY
SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of Section 22.9 of Ordinance
No. 1130, the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, adopted May 11,
1964, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) In the event any such property is not rezoned
from IS District to some permanent district zone classi-
fication on or before June 30, 1966, such territory shall
automatically, without further action, be zoned to the
CB District and shall thereafter be subject to all regula-
tions applicable in the CB District."
SECTION 2. This ordinance is declared to be an emergency
measure necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace,
health or safety and shall go into effect immediately. The facts
constituting such urgency, as reported by the Planning Department,
are as follows:
The current provisions of Section 22.9 of Ordinance No. 1130
provide for the automatic lapse of IS zoning in the downtown
area on June 10, 1965, and the substitution of CB zoning without
regard to the actual development in the area involved. The City
has caused the preparation of extensive studies of the area which
will be put in the form of rezoning proceedings in the near
future; permitting the lapse of the existing zoning will cause
confusion, undue expense on the part of the taxpayers through
multiplicity of zonings, and hardship upon those property owners
whose properties become nonconforming under the new zoning.
