CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Commissioners <br /> Distefano, Filippi, Fischer, Moran and <br /> Piulle <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Ball <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Dale Perkins, Sharon Swendell, Barbara McGrady, <br /> John Bergues, Don Saye, Erik Hogh-Sorensen <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Recreation Supervisor Julie Hannon, Assistant to the <br /> City Manager Corinne Centeno, Library Supervisor Linda <br /> Hedges, and Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order at <br /> 7:05pm by Chairperson Redington in Room 5 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the January meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -Commissioner Moran announced that several pieces of routine mail were <br /> received and asked the Commissioners to review them. <br /> -Commissioner Piulle said the Commission received an invitation to attend <br /> the 1994 Russian Festival at the Russian Center of San Francisco February 4-6. <br /> -A thank you letter was received from the El Camino Youth Symphony <br /> expressing their thanks to the Cultural Commission for the Fox Theater <br /> grant. <br /> -A copy of a letter from a student in the Intergenerational Program was <br /> received expressing his pleasure of participating in the program. <br /> -The San Mateo County Arts Council sent an invitation for their third annual <br /> Open Studios Program. The dates of the event will be June 4-5 and cost is <br /> $25.00 per artist and the application deadline is March 11, 1994. <br /> ITEM 1 - GRANT PRESENTATION-NOTEWORTHIES <br /> Sharon Swendell, new director of the Sequoia Adult Education Program, <br /> explained the program has been in existence for over 50 years and that it has <br /> been offering a choral class that meets once a week at the Veterans Memorial <br /> Center for the past five years.
