,a <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> SPECIAL MEETING OF THURSDAY,MARCH 24,1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Filippi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Distefano, Fischer, Moran, Piulle and <br /> Redington <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Geri Mayers <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Park & Recreation Superintendent Hartman, Recreation <br /> Supervisor Hannon and Secretary Monroe <br /> The Special Meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order at <br /> 11:40am by Chairperson Jeff Filippi at the Redwood City Art Center, 1020 <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the March meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -An invitation was received from Bonita Parlor of the Native Daughters of <br /> the Golden West to their Annual Arbor Day Observance to be held on <br /> Saturday, April 23, 1994 at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center at 2:OOpm. <br /> -A letter from Mayor Buchan regarding Commission involvement in new <br /> public facilities was received in response to a letter sent by the Commission. <br /> This matter will be placed on the April agenda. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Geri Mayers encouraged the Commission to continue their admirable efforts. <br /> ITEM 1-MISS REDWOOD CITY PAGEANT <br /> Geri Mayers spoke to the Commission on the grant request for the Miss <br /> Redwood City Pageant. She said the biggest need for the pageant is funds for <br /> scholarships. The pageant date has been changed from Apri19 to July 2 and <br /> the location will still be the American Legion Hall. Part of the reason for the <br /> change is to give the contestants enough time to prepare for the event and the <br /> fact that many budgets are affected by the timing of the pageant.
