CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MEETING OF THURSDAY,APRIL 7,1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Filippi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Fischer, Piulle and Redington <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Distefano and Moran <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Mayor Judy Buchan, Councilman Paul Sanfilipo, <br /> Steve Penna, Roy Weil, Louise Pasternak, Kenneth <br /> Spicer, and Don Saye <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Park & Recreation Superintendent Hartman, Recreation <br /> Supervisor Hannon, Library Supervisor Linda Hedges, <br /> and Secretary Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order at <br /> 7:OOpm by Chairperson Jeff Filippi at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, <br /> 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> T'he minutes of the March 24 meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A letter and tickets were received from Raices de Mexico inviting the <br /> Commission to their April 23 performance at the Fox T'heater. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Steve Penna announced a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Night which will be <br /> held on Thursday, April 28 at 7:OOpm at Sequoia High School and invited the <br /> Commission to attend. <br /> ITEM 1-LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Hedges announced the Friends of the Library will be <br /> holding their annual book sale on April 8-10 at the Community Activities <br /> Building. She noted that the Redwood City Library has been added to the <br /> International Visitors' List and a tour was given to a visitor recently from <br /> Mexico. She mentioned the Library has received a grant from the State <br /> Library for Internet. The grant involves providing extensive training to both <br /> the staff of the Library and the Finance/MIS Department and 100 free hours <br /> on the Internet system. <br />
