- -� .- �, �.. �.. <br /> m, ... o _ . . . -_ .. , � ., <br /> . <br /> � � � ,.. . � � . � .. <br /> MINUTES OF CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> PUBLIC HEARING <br /> MEETII�TG OF WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 12,1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Filippi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Distefano, Fischer, Moran, Piulle and <br /> Redington <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Assistant Superintendent Don Gielow, Principal Earl <br /> Walker, Ken Rolandelli of Historic Resources Advisory� <br /> Committee, Frank Bravo of Sequoia Alumni Association, <br /> Tom Gilman and Kent Brown of DES, Inc. <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Julie Hannon, and Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The Special Meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order <br /> at 7:35pm by Chairperson Jeffrey Filippi at Carrington Hall, Sequoia High <br /> School, Broadway and Brewster Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> Roll call was taken and the members of the panel were introduced to the <br /> audience. <br /> ITEM 1 -PRESENTATION BY REDWOOD CITY CIVIC CULTURAL <br /> COMMISSION <br /> Chairperson Filippi explained the purpose, objectives and goals of the Civic <br /> Cultural Commission and described the many programs it offers and <br /> sponsors. He spoke about the need for arts in the schools and in the <br /> community and working with the Sequoia Union High School District to <br /> investigate the possibility of renovating Carrington Hall into a community <br /> performing arts center. Chairperson Filippi explained what had transpired <br /> over the past four months on this project. He also presented a list of <br /> endorsements from various groups and individuals in support of the <br /> Carrington Hall renovation project. The endorsements include: San Mateo <br /> County Arts Council, Peninsula Hills Womens' Club, Principal Earl Walker, <br /> Sequoia Union High School Board of Trustees, Redwood City Elementary <br /> School District Board of Trustees, Sequoia High School Alumni Association, <br /> Hispanos Unidos, Raices de Mexico, Redwood City Tribune, Redwood City <br /> Almanac, Historic Resources Advisory Committee, Supervisor Ruben <br /> Barrales, Soroptimists, Optimists, and the El Camino Youth Symphony. <br />
