CIVIC CULTURAL COIVIlVIISSION <br /> MEETING OF THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1994 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Filippi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Distefano, Fischer, Moran, Piulle and <br /> Redington <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Mayor Daniela Gasparini, Councilman Paul Sanfilipo, <br /> Bob Distefano, Matias Varela, Javier Pacheco, Maria Elena <br /> Varela, Don Saye, Mike Gibbons <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Sally Hartman, Recreation Supervisor <br /> Julie Hannon, Library Supervisor Linda Hedges and <br /> Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order at <br /> 7:05pm by Chairperson Jeff Filippi in Room 1 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the November meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The following items were received: <br /> -A thank you was received from the family of Jim Smith. <br /> -A calendar of events from the El Camino Youth Symphony. <br /> -An update from Paintbrush Diplomacy. <br /> -An art exhibition held at the Palo Alto Cultural Center on December 8 <br /> -Chairperson Filippi congratulated Matias Varela of Raices de Mexico for his <br /> appointment to the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Arts Council. <br /> -A letter was received from Don Gielow granting the Commission use of the <br /> Sequoia High School campus for weekends. Chairperson Filippi felt the <br /> campus would be an excellent site for a concert. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Don Saye advised the Commission that the Art Center applied for a grant at <br /> the November 28 City Council meeting to help with the move and <br /> renovation a new facility on Broadway. He felt the grant is vital to the <br /> community. <br />
