CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, MAY 2, 1996 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Piulle, Commissioners <br /> Distefano, Filippi, Fischer, Redington and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Ball <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Pat Nugent, Steve Penna, Bob Distefano, <br /> Matias Varela, Rosine Bena, Ricardo Balderas, Peter <br /> Weiglin, Sheila Bilich <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Supervisor Mike Gibbons, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The special meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Tamara Piulle at 7:04pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Chairperson Piulle requested a conection be made to the April 4 minutes <br /> under Item 6-Summer Concerts. The motion should read: "To give <br /> Supervisor Julie Hannon approval to make changes if needed in revising the <br /> proposed schedule to try and provide a concert at the Port in August". The <br /> minutes were approved as corrected. The minutes of the Special Meeting of <br /> April 11 were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -Commissioner Filippi brought in an arricle from a recent dance magazine <br /> which supports the concept that dance has a positive impact on children. A <br /> copy of the article will be forwarded to each Commissioner. <br /> -Chairperson Piulle announced she will be attending the ArtShare workshop <br /> on May 11 from 9am-12noon and asked if other Commissioners would be <br /> attending. She aLso received an informational packet from Kollage Kids <br /> regarding their programs and a possible grant request. <br /> -A grant application was received from the Optimist Club. <br /> -A memo was received from Director Peter Griffiths announcing the <br /> appointment of Corinne Centeno to the position of Parks, Recreation and <br /> Community Services Superintendent. She is expected to be in the position <br /> during the week of May 13. <br />
