CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION MINUTES OF THURSDAY, MAY 2, 1996 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Piulle, Commissioners Distefano, Filippi, Fischer, Redington and Saye COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Ball GUESTS PRESENT: Pat Nugent, Steve Penna, Bob Distefano, Matias Varela, Rosine Bena, Ricardo Balderas, Peter Weiglin, Sheila Bilich STAFF PRESENT: Supervisor Mike Gibbons, Secretary Denise Monroe The special meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by Chairperson Tamara Piulle at 7:04pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Piulle requested a conection be made to the April 4 minutes under Item 6-Summer Concerts. The motion should read: "To give Supervisor Julie Hannon approval to make changes if needed in revising the proposed schedule to try and provide a concert at the Port in August". The minutes were approved as corrected. The minutes of the Special Meeting of April 11 were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE -Commissioner Filippi brought in an arricle from a recent dance magazine which supports the concept that dance has a positive impact on children. A copy of the article will be forwarded to each Commissioner. -Chairperson Piulle announced she will be attending the ArtShare workshop on May 11 from 9am-12noon and asked if other Commissioners would be attending. She aLso received an informational packet from Kollage Kids regarding their programs and a possible grant request. -A grant application was received from the Optimist Club. -A memo was received from Director Peter Griffiths announcing the appointment of Corinne Centeno to the position of Parks, Recreation and Community Services Superintendent. She is expected to be in the position during the week of May 13.
