Mr. Penna introduced
members of the City Council, Sequoia Union High School District, and
Carrington Hall Ad Hoc Restoration Comnuttee who were in attendance.
Mr. Penna explained that one year ago, the Civic Cultural Commission
formed the Carrington Hall Ad Hoc Restoration Committee (later refened to
as "Conunittee") which met to develop its goals. One of the Committee's
goals was to have an architectural and structural study completed of
Carrington Hall. The Committee began working with the firm of DES
Architects & Engineers who prepared a proposal to complete the study at a
cost of $26,500.00. The Conunittee approached the Board of Trustees of the
Sequoia Union High School District for funding for this project. Due to
budgetary constraints, the District was unable to grant their request. The
Committee then approached the Redevelopment Agency for the City of
Redwood City for funding and received $13,000.00 towards the study. The
Sequoia Alumni Association was also approached and they granted $13,500.00
to help fully fund the study. Mr. Penna stated DES Architects & Engineers
completed the architectural and structural study and thanked them for their
excellent support. He noted that DES spent considerable time and expense on
the project that far exceeded the $26,500.00 cost of the study.
