� <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY,AUGUST 1, 1996 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Piulle, Commissioners <br /> Ball, Filippi, Redington and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Britschgi and Distefano <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: None <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Supervisor Julie <br /> Hannon, Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere, and <br /> Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Tamara Piulle at 7:03pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Commissioner Saye requested two corrections to the July minutes. On Page 4, <br /> under Mural Guidelines, line 3, the word "the" should be "she". On Page 5, <br /> under Correspondence, former Cultural Commissioner Betty Moran should <br /> be included in the names of the judges. The minutes of the July meeting <br /> were approved as mailed. <br /> ITEM 1- ACTION ON GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Redwood City Art Center <br /> No one from the Art Center appeared to discuss their grant request. <br /> Chairperson Piulle stated Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor Tova Sweet <br /> of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center approached the Civic Cultural <br /> Commission to have a hands-on childrens' art area during their September 2 <br /> Labor Day Fest and Chairperson Piulle directed Tova to the Art Center. The <br /> grant will provide for 4 artists and supplies for 3 projects for the event. The <br /> Commissioners discussed the cost of the request and the possibility of using <br /> recreation leaders to oversee the childrens' art area versus paying for artists. <br /> M/S Saye/Ball: To decline the grant request from the Redwood City Art <br /> Center. <br /> Chairperson Piulle mentioned she was disappointed that no one from the Art <br /> Center was here to discuss the proposal. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br />
