� <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5,1996 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Piulle, Commissioners <br /> Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Redington and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Filippi <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Officer Gilbert Granado, Bob Distefano, Pete Hughes, <br /> Ginny Hughes, Dennis Lickteig, Beth Ann Fischer, Peter <br /> Bliznick, Paul Sanfilipo, Jesse Silverman <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Supervisor Julie <br /> Hannon, Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere, and <br /> Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Tamara Piulle at 7:05pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the August meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> ITEM 1-LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Supervisor Celia LaRiviere reported that 1,600 people completed the Library's <br /> Summer Reading Club this year. She reviewed September activities at the <br /> Library which include a senior health lecture and teen volunteer meetings. <br /> She announced the Fair Oaks Library will be adding new Saturday operating <br /> hours of 1:OOpm-4:OOpm beginning September 14 and there will be a gala <br /> celebration that day from 10:00am-1:OOpm to mark the event. Schaberg <br /> Library will have new hours of l0am-7pm on Monday-Thursday and l0am- <br /> 5pm on Friday and Saturday. A list of the Library events for September is <br /> attached. <br /> ITEM 2- ACTION ON GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Casa de Redwood <br /> Pete Hughes explained Casa de Redwood is a HUD low income senior <br /> housing facility in Redwood City which houses 160 seniors whose average age <br /> is 78 years old. Most of the seniors are not able to get out to attend events so <br /> the Board of Casa de Redwood would like to offer events at the facility. Last <br /> year the Commission granted them $200.00 to provide music for a BBQ which <br /> was attended by 120 seniors. Mr. Hughes explained this year's request was for <br />
