f <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1997 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Ball, Commissioners <br /> Britschgi, Distefano, Piulle, Redington, and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Dr. Jeff Filippi, Manager Julie Hannon, Elena Mori, <br /> Carol McNamara, Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere, <br /> Ruth Waters <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Virginia Ball at 7:05pm in Room 2 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY - Presentation to Dr. Jeff Filippi <br /> Chairperson Ball and Commissioner Distefano presented a mounted <br /> nameplate to Dr. Filippi and commented on his achievements. Dr. Filippi <br /> thanked the Commission members and staff for all their hard work. Dr. <br /> Filippi also spoke about his future activities with the McKinley School arts <br /> programs. <br /> The Commission recessed at 7:15pm for refreshments in honor of Dr. Filippi. <br /> The meeting was called back to order at 7:30pm. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Commissioner Piulle noted that on page 4, Item 4, paragraph 3 of the <br /> September minutes, the sentence should read, "She expressed her <br /> disappointment on the lack of public attendance at the Art Center <br /> reception.". The minutes were approved as corrected. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Commissioner Distefano reviewed various newsletters and correspondence <br /> received by the Commission including: <br /> 1 .) Invitation to San Mateo Historical Society event on October 14 to view <br /> the building plans for the Courthouse site. <br /> 2.) Thank you note from Kathy Brda of the Optimist Club for entertainment <br /> funds for the Climate Best Fest. <br /> 3.) Guide to the Arts publication from the Community Information Program of <br /> the Peninsula Library System. <br /> The Commissioners asked staff to get additional copies of the Guide to the <br /> Arts for their use. <br />
