CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1997 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chai�person Ball, Commissioners <br /> Britschgi, Distefano, Piulle, Redington, <br /> and Saye (arrived 7:10pm) <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Ruth Waters <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno and <br /> Administrative Assistant Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to o�der by <br /> Chairperson Virginia Ball at 7:05pm in Room 2 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the November meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Commissione� Distefano reviewed various newsletters and correspondence <br /> �eceived by the Commission including: <br /> -A letter from Loretta Thomas regarding the Tis the Season program. This <br /> letter will be discussed under Item 3. <br /> -A letter from Dr. Norman Shapiro of Redwood City Kiwanis Club thanking <br /> the Commission for their grant and providing a detailed account of how the <br /> funds were spent. <br /> -A newsletter from the Sequoia Art Group. <br /> -A guide and location map for art in public places from City Arts of San <br /> Mateo. <br /> -A notice for a holiday show of Northern California Silk Artists from <br /> December 1-26, 1997 at the Mano� House Gallery. <br /> -A booklet entitled "The Arts and the Public Purpose" from the 92"d American <br /> Assembly. <br /> -An invitation to "Deck the Halls" Tea Dance presented by Vintage Music <br /> Theatre on December 6 at the Veterans Memorial Senio� Center. <br /> -The Tis the Season insert of the Redwood City Times-Tribune. <br /> ITEM 1 — LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Superviso� Celia LaRiviere was unable to attend the meeting. A copy <br /> of the December Library activities is attached to the minutes. <br />
