CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION MINUTES OF THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1997 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Piulle, Commissioners Ball, Britschgi, Distefano, Filippi, Redington, and Saye COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None GUESTS PRESENT: Claudia Herzog, Peter Stall, Sally Luzzi, Shirley Gernler, Matias Varela, Andrea Temkin STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by Chairperson Tamara Piulle at 7:04pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS Claudia Herzog and Peter Stall of Redwood Symphony reported back on the Commission-funded December concert. Ms. Herzog provided copies of the program acknowledging the Commission. She also stated the Cultural Commission was acknowledged in pre-performance activities. The grant from the Commission paid for a soloist's stipend and instrument rental. Mr. Stall shared the thanks of the Redwood Symphony Board of Directors. Sally Luzzi and Shirley Gernler of the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association spoke to the Commission regarding their desire to put on concerts in Redwood Shores parks, the concept of a Park booster club, and the San Carlos and Belmont concert models. A grant request may be forthcoming from the group. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Chairperson Piulle asked that the motion under Item 4 (City Hall Time Capsule) of the january minutes be changed to reflect that the Commission approved up to $300.00 for a plaque to cover the time capsule which will indicate the date it is to be opened. She also requested a change to Item #6 (Families Arts Day) which should state that Chairperson Piulle advised the Commission that the deadline had passed for application to Target for Families Arts Day funding. The minutes were approved as corrected.
