CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, JULY 10, 1997 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Ball, Vice Chairperson Filippi, <br /> Commissioners Britschgi, Distefano, Piulle, Redington and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: City Councilmembers Howard and LaBerge; Peter <br /> Bliznick, Eugenie Watson, and Marie Immekeppel of Peninsula Center Stage; <br /> Lynn Hilferty representing Peninsula Ballet Theater; Mary Wallace and Paul <br /> Sanfilipo <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order at 7:05 p.m. <br /> by Chairperson Ball in Room 2 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 <br /> Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S FIILIPPUREDINGTON: To approve minutes with the following <br /> modification: Page 3, Correspondence, "Superintendent Centeno shared a <br /> letter from Commissioner Piulle requesting that the Commission hear the grant <br /> presentations this evening but not approve funding of the grants until the July <br /> meeting and a budget study session including the entire Commission <br /> is completed. <br /> Motion passed. Commissioners Britschgi and Piulle abstained <br /> because they were absent from the June meeting. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Commissioner Distefano reviewed correspondence as summarized in <br /> Attachment I including a thank you letter from Edna Mangini; thirty (30) letters in <br /> support of continued funding for Peninsula Center Stage and various <br /> newsletters. <br /> ITEM 1 LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Celia LaRivere reviewed her written report on Library activities noting that the <br /> Council has declared the week of July 7th Project READ week in honor of the <br /> program's tenth anniversary and that Yvonne Chen, a 25 year veteran of <br /> Seattle Public Library has been selected as the new Library Director. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> (This item was taken out of order at this time) <br /> Paul Sanfilipo reported that at the last meeting of the Redwood City Art Center, <br /> Redwood City International had discussed the possibility of a display in <br />
