CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 1998 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Ball, Commissioners <br /> Britschgi, Distefano, Redington and Saye <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Library Manager Celia LaRiviere <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Virginia Ball at 7:03pm in the Administrative Conference Room <br /> of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood <br /> City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Redington/Saye: To approve the minutes of the April 2,1998 meeting <br /> as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Commissioner Distefano reviewed various newsletters, announcements of <br /> upcoming cultural events and correspondence received by the Commission <br /> including: the notice of the upcoming Sunflower Festival on May 16 and <br /> 17t'', the Senior Affairs Commission-sponsored historic walk through <br /> downtown Redwood City, the Peninsula Celebration Association <br /> announcement regarding parade participation, and the 1 1`h Annual Tribute to <br /> Older American Artists. <br /> ITEM 1 — LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere reviewed the Library's May calendar of <br /> activities which included a Mystery Writers Night on May 14, 1998 at <br /> 7:30 p.m. She noted that the Library Board had approved a new method for <br /> the art exhibit wall. The plan is to use Sequoia Art Group to organize the <br /> exhibit and in turn the group will get an additional two months for their <br /> group. The Art Jury will continue and will have representation of the Civic <br /> Cultural Commission. Commissioner Redington noted that he had served on <br /> the Art Jury representing the Commission and would like to continue. <br /> Commissioner Saye also expressed an interest in participating. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Distefano: To appoint Commissioner Redington as the <br /> representative to the Art Jury and Commissioner <br /> Saye as the alternate. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br />
