CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, JANUARY 7, 1999 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Commissioners <br /> Britschgi, Dale, Del Carlo, Pierce, Saye (arrived <br /> 7:27pm), and Schenone <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Petra Reed <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Library Supervisor Celia <br /> LaRiviere, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Oliver Redington at 7:05pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Britschgi/Schenone: To approve the December minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Superintendent Centeno reviewed various newsletters and notices of <br /> upcoming events. She read a letter from the San Mateo County Arts Council <br /> thanking the Commission for their membership in their organization. <br /> Chairperson Redington gave the Commissioners a letter he received from <br /> Petra Reed inviting the Commissioners to attend a walking tour of public art <br /> in downtown Oakland. <br /> Commissioner Dale said it was suggested to him that he function as a <br /> mediator with the San Mateo Historical Museum and the San Mateo County <br /> Art Museum. This item will be placed on the February agenda. <br /> ITEM 1 — LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere provided the Commissioners with a copy of <br /> Library events for the month of January. She noted the Main Library's <br /> successful 10"' Anniversary Celebration held in December was attended by <br /> 1,500 people; the new Library Foundation was also introduced to the public <br /> at that event. She announced that the Library received two awards from the <br /> California Library Association; one for its Web page and another for the <br /> design of the logo for the Redwood City Library Foundation. <br /> ITEM 2 — CONSIDERATION OF SPONSORSHIP OF A RECEPTION FOR THE <br /> SAN MATEO COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM <br /> Commissioner Britschgi announced the new San Mateo County Historical <br /> Museum has asked the Commission to sponsor a reception this Spring at <br />
