CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF,THURSDAY, October 14, 1999 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Vice-Chairperson <br /> Britschgi, Commissioners Dale, Del Carlo, <br /> Pierce, Saye, and Schenone <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None . <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Paula Uccelli, Redwood City International and Celia <br /> LaRiviere, Redwoad City Public Library <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Oliver Redington at 7:O8pm in Room 5 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Dale/Del Ca�lo: To approve the minutes of the September 2, 1999 <br /> meeting with the following corrections: <br /> 1 . On Page 3 under Public Art, the minutes should read that the Commission <br /> received an Otis Carrington painting of redwoods from the Behrens <br /> Family. The painting was given to the City via Vice-Chairperson Britschgi. <br /> 2. To add on Page 1 under Correspondence Vintage Music Theater, that <br /> Commissioner Dale suggested a performance at McKinley School and <br /> another at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Superintendent Centeno reviewed the following correspondence received: <br /> 1 . Letter from Edward Rosential (9/4/99) of the Sequoia Art Group thanking <br /> the Commission for the free use of space in the Community Activities <br /> Building for an Art Sale held on Sunday, August 15, 1999. <br /> 2. Newsletters were received from the San Mateo County Arts Council, the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center, the Kiwanis Farmers Market and the <br /> Santa Clara Audubon Society. <br /> 3. Announcement of upcoming events were received from the College of <br /> Notre Dame, and the Palo Alto Art Center <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Library Manager, Celia LaRiviere distributed copies of the November Library <br /> Calendar and flyers announcing upcoming lectures by: University of <br /> California, Santa Cruz Professor Judy Yung, 10/28/99 on Unbound Voices: A <br /> Documentary History of Chinese Women in San Francisco and Stanford <br /> Professor, Dr. Carl Djerassi, on Science Fiction. She also asked the <br /> Commission to designate jurors for the Sequoia Art Group exhibit at the <br /> library. Commissioners Saye and Schenone will assist at the November 19, <br /> 1999 event at 6:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. <br />
