�, <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Thursday, February 4, 1999 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Vice Chairperson <br /> Britschgi, Commissioners Dale, Del Carlo, <br /> Pierce, Saye (arrived 7:15pm), and Shenone <br /> (arrived 7:15pm) <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Robert Slusser, Bill and June McKenna, Maria Kramer, <br /> and Celia LaRiviere <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Oliver Redington at 7:10 p.m. in Room 5 of the Community Activities <br /> Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Dale: To approve the January minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion approved unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> 1. Chairperson Redington referred to the letter received last month from Petra <br /> Reed inviting Cultural Commissioners on a tour of outdoor urban art in the <br /> Oakland area. Superintendent Centeno indicated Ms. Reed had called <br /> statomg she would no longer be able to attend Commission meetings, but <br /> that she is available to take Commissioners on the tour. Chairperson <br /> Redington indicated that individual Commissioners could contact Ms. Reed <br /> directly if they were interested. <br /> 2. Chairperson Redington asked Robert Slusser to speak to his letter updating <br /> the Commission on how grant dollars were expended by the Peninsula <br /> Celebration Association for the `Tis the Season Program. He indicated the <br /> attendance for the holiday showcase was estimated at 3,500 and that the <br /> fireworks and Mr. and Mrs. Claus were a big draw. The group has already <br /> started its own critique of the event including visibility of the performers, <br /> connecting up with the City Hall Tree Lighting and the involvement of the <br /> Downtown Business Association. Mr. Slusser indicated Virginia Ball would <br /> continue to chair the event and noted that 50% of the volunteers for the event <br /> come from outside of Redwood City. He closed by thanking the Commission <br /> for their support and foresight in bringing the `Tis the Season Committee <br /> together. Commissioner Del Carlo agreed to represent the Commission on <br /> the `Tis the Season Committee. <br />
