CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THURSDAY, MARCH 4, 1999
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Commissioners
Britschgi, Dale (arrived 7:05pm), DelCarlo,
Pierce, and Schenone - . -.
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Saye
GUESTS PRESENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Library Supervisor Celia
LaRiviere, Secretary Denise Monroe
The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by
Chairperson Oliver Redington at 7:03pm in Room 5 of the Community
Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
M/S Britschgi/Schenone: To approve the February minutes as mailed.
Motion passed unanimously.
CORRESPONDENCE
Superintendent Centeno reviewed various newsletters and notices of
upcoming events. She read a thank you letter from Virginia Ball and the Tis
the Season Committee for the Commission's support of the children's
parade. She also reviewed a letter from Eddie Rosensteil of the Sequoia Art
Group (SAG) regarding holding an "art sale" in mid-August. The art sale
would involve many organizations including Redwood City School District,
SAG, Sequoia Adult School, and Redwood City Art Center. Prices for the art
work would range from 55.00-5100.00. Mr. Rosensteil is looking for staff
assistance in moving the art panels and free use of city facilities. This
matter will be discussed later on the agenda.
Commissioner Pierce received a call from Kollage concerning its funding for
the NOTES Program. She was advised that Selby Lane School was not going
to be able to set up the assembly and as a result, Kollage was wondering if
they could do the performance for Nesbit School in Belmont. The
Commissioners stated the funding of the program was for Redwood City
school children but they would agree to have the assembly at Sandpiper
School in Redwood Shores. Commissioner Pierce will check back with
Kollage to confirm if the assembly has been re-scheduled at Selby Lane.
ITEM 1 — LIBRARY PROGRAMS
Library Supervisor Celia LaRiviere provided the Commissioners with a copy of
Library events for the month of March. She also spoke about their second
successful quarterly Downtown Business Breakfast held in March.
