ClVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 1999 <br /> COMMtSSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Commissioners <br /> Britschgi, Date (arrived 7:06pm), DetCarlo, <br /> Pierce, and Schenone <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Saye <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Horst Wotf, Ruth Waters <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise <br /> Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Culturat Commission was calted to order by <br /> Chairperson Otiver Redington at 7:03pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Buitding, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, Catifornia. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Britschgi: To approve the March minutes as rr�ailed. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Superintendent Centeno reviewed severat pieces of correspondence and <br /> newstetters from: Saquoia Atumni Association, Art Councit of San Mateo <br /> County, and Peninsula Cetebration. . <br /> tTEM 1 — LIBRARY PROGRAMS <br /> The Commissioners were provided with a copy of the Library events for the <br /> month of April. <br /> ITEM 2 — LETTER FROM MR. ROSENSTIEL REGARDING REDWOOD CITY <br /> ART SALE <br /> Sequoia Art Group member Horst Wotf summarized the tetter the <br /> Commissioners received tast month from Eddie Rosenstiel. Mr. Rosenstiet <br /> suggested having the Sequoia Art Group (SAG) sponsor an art sale to be held <br /> on August 15 at the Community Activities Buitding. Artists from the <br /> Redwood City Art Center, high schoot and middle school art classes, and <br /> people enrolled in the adult art ctasses of Sequoia Adutt School and the Park <br /> and Recreation Department woutd be invited to sell their art work at the <br /> event; there would be no fee and no commission to the participants and <br /> artists would handte their own satas. Mr. Watf said they expect <br /> approximatety 50 artists to participate; Mr. Rosenstiel has already spoken <br /> with the art teachers at the high schoots and middte schoots. Mr. Wotf said <br /> the 36t'' Annuat Spring Art Show sponsored by the SAG is scheduted for May <br /> and that this art sate is separate from the annual art show. The prices of the <br /> art work would range in price from 55.00 to 5100.00 per piece. <br />
