CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Thursday, April 6, 2000 <br /> Commissioners Present: Chairperson Redington, Commissioners, <br /> Britschgi, Del Carlo, Schenone, and Saye <br /> Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Dale <br /> Guests Present: Virginia Ball, Planning Commissioner Tamara Piulle, <br /> Greg Niemeyer <br /> Staff Present: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise <br /> Monroe <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to <br /> order at 7:05pm by Chairperson Oliver Redington in Room 1 of the <br /> Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Saye/Del Carlo: To approve the March minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> The following item was taken out of order: <br /> ITEM 3 — GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Tis the Season Request, Virginia Ball <br /> Virginia Ball reported that the Tis the Season Committee received two <br /> Commission grants last year totaling $6,000 and also did fundraising <br /> to bring in additional funding for their 1999 program. She stated the <br /> committee is interested in taking the remainder of their funds and <br /> using it towards the deposit on the fireworks for this year's event. <br /> Cost of this year's fireworks will be $3,000 and she noted they will <br /> receive a better selection if the deposit is placed right now rather than <br /> at the end of the year. Superintendent Centeno explained that the <br /> City has been handling all check payments and accepting donations for <br /> Tis the Season. She stated that Tis the Season is requesting that they <br /> open their own checking account with the remaining funds and handle <br /> all future payment and deposit functions for their group. <br /> Ms. Ball stated that this year the group is looking at using a <br /> professional advertising company to handle the publicity for the event. <br />
