r <br /> CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> Minutes of Thursday, May 4, 2000 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Redington, Vice Chairperson <br /> Britschgi, Commissioners Dale, Del Carlo, <br /> Schenone <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Saye <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Councii Member Barbara Pierce, Art and Poetry <br /> Contest Winners and their families, Professor Greg <br /> Niemeyer of Stanford University and four students in <br /> the Stanford Digital Art program <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Corinne Centeno, Manager Julie Hannon <br /> The regular meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Oliver Redington at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1017 <br /> Middlefield Road, Redwood City, Califomia. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Chairperson Redington asked the word "there° be added to page 2, Item 1 last <br /> sentence of the first paragraph, and have found that there is a reduction in graffiti <br /> when there is public art in place. <br /> M/S BritschgilDale: To accept the April minutes as corrected. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The following correspondence was received: <br /> -A report ftom Vintage Music Theater on use of grant allocation. <br /> -Letter from Loretta Knight regarding her role in the Peninsula Celebration <br /> Association 4"' of July Festival activities. <br /> ITEM 1 -ART AND POETRY CONTEST AWARDS CEREMONY <br /> Chairperson Redington introduced Council Member Pierce who spoke briefly <br /> about her excitement with the contest, the Mayor's support, and her appreciation <br /> of all the parents and children present. <br /> All of the Commissioners assisted in distributing trophies to the winners of the art <br /> and poetry contest for each grade. <br /> Art Contest Winners <br /> Kindergarten <br /> 1�`Place David Lopez, Hawes <br /> 2"°Place Steffany Rodriguez, Hawes <br />
