CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, 7ANUARY 4, 2001 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Britschgi, Commissioners Dale, <br /> Del Carlo, Kushin, and Soultanian <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Ball and Douglas <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Juan Carlos Prado <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Manager ]an Knight, Secretary <br /> Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Barbara Britschgi at 7:OOpm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Dale/Kushin: To approve the December minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> ]uan Carlos Prado, a member of the Downtown Task Force, spoke about the <br /> history and purpose of the 15-member task force. He explained the task <br /> force members were appointed by the Mayor and have made a one year <br /> commitment to participate in the group. The group is looking at developing a <br /> plan for the downtown area located between Woodside Road and Whipple <br /> Avenue and EI Camino Real and Veterans Boulevard. Recommendations <br /> developed by the task force will be presented to the City Council for <br /> consideration. Mr. Prado stated he would like to be a liaison to the Cultural <br /> Commission to provide updates of information from the task force and to <br /> gather information from the Commission to take back to the task force. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> The Commissioners were provided with copies of letters: <br /> -From Chairperson Britschgi to Michael Giari of the Port of Redwood City <br /> requesting support for our 2001 Summer Concert Series <br /> -From Director Centeno inviting potential large grant applicants to apply for <br /> available funds by January 24, 2001 <br />
