CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2001 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Britschgi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Del Carlo, Douglas and Kushin <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Dale and Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Sylvia Duncan, Shirley Masters <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Barbara Britschgi at 7:04pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Kushin/Del Carlo: To approve the Septerr�ber rr�inutes as <br /> mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A variety of newsletters and announcements were received. No action <br /> required. <br /> -Commissioner pouglas received a questionnaire from Sustainable San Mateo <br /> County organization regarding venues in our community were the arts are <br /> currently taking place or planned for the near future. Director Centeno was <br /> directed to complete the questionnaire for the Commission. The <br /> Commissioners discussed membership in the Art Share organization. <br /> ITEM 1 — SMALL GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -The Dancers Repertory Theater - $1,000 <br /> Sylvia Duncan spoke on behalf of The Dancers Repertory Theater and <br /> explained the group is over 30 years old and it consists children performing <br /> for children.. The theater group will be performing "Horrific Halloween Hoot" <br /> at the Fox Theater on three dates in October. Redwood City students have <br /> been invited to attend and tickets are $5.00 per person. Ms. Duncan <br /> explained the grant request would fund the purchase of 50 tickets for low <br /> income students from four schools. <br /> -Redwood City Heritage Association - $1,000 <br /> Shirley Masters spoke about their grant request which will provide <br /> entertainment for their annual fundraising event on October and for the <br />
