CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, �UNE 7, 2001 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Britschgi, Commissioners Ball <br /> (arrived 7:35pm), Dale, Douglas, and Kushin <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Del Carlo and Soultanian <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: ]oan Jordan, Twelve large grant applicants <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Barbara Britschgi at 7:07pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Dale/Douglas: To approve the May minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A variety of newsletters and announcements were received. No action <br /> required. <br /> -70 postcards were received from Redwood City residents in support of the <br /> grant request of Peninsula Ballet Theater. <br /> -A letter was received from Redwood City 2020 thanking the Commission for <br /> their financial support of"Redwood City Youth Celebrating the Arts" event <br /> and a report of the event held on May 12. <br /> ITEM 1 — GRANT REQUEST FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000-2001 <br /> Joan ]ordan of the Redwood City Art Center/Gallery spoke about their grant <br /> request of $2,000.00 which would provide funding for an Open House event <br /> on Saturday, June 16. She explained the funding would provide <br /> entertainment, advertising, and gift certificates for workshops and classes <br /> held at the Art Center. <br /> M/S Dale/Douglas: To grant $2,000.00 to the Redwood City Art <br /> Center. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br />
