CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION <br /> MINUTES OF THURSDAY, AUGUST 9, 2001 <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Britschgi, Commissioners Ball, <br /> Dale, Del Carlo, Douglas, Kushin, Soultanian <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Marni Tuel, Bruce Codding, Pete Hughes <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> The meeting of the Civic Cultural Commission was called to order by <br /> Chairperson Barbara Britschgi at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community <br /> Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> M/S Dale/Del Carlo: To approve the )uly minutes as mailed. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> CORRESPONDENCE <br /> -A variety of newsletters and announcements were received. No action <br /> required. <br /> -The Commissioners were provided with copies of grant reports from <br /> Redwood City Kiwanis, San Mateo County Historical Association, and John Gill <br /> School. <br /> ITEM 1 — SMALL GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Peninsula Ballet Theatre School - $1,000 <br /> No representative present from this organization; item was tabled until <br /> September. <br /> -Redwood Shores Homeowners Association - $1,000 <br /> Pete Hughes of the Redwood Shores Homeowners Association spoke <br /> regarding their grant request of $1,000.00 to provide funding for <br /> entertainment at the "Music in the Park" event. The event will be held on <br /> September 21 and will be done in conjunction with the Rotary Club of <br /> Redwood City's "Rubber Ducky Derby" at Marlin Park. Mr. Hughes reported <br /> that more than 600 people attended last year's event and 1,000 people are <br /> expected this year. Entertainment will be provided from 10:00am to 4:OOpm <br /> and is budgeted at $3,500.00. This grant would help with offset the <br /> entertainment costs. <br />
