06/23/2014 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15352 <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE <br /> TRANE HVAC EQUIPMENT, FROM TRANE, FOR AN AMOUNT <br /> NOT TO EXCEED $115,352.00 AND SUSPENDING THE <br /> REQUIREMENTS OF ARTICLE VII, PURCHASING, OF <br /> CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO <br /> COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THIS PURCHASE <br /> WHEREAS, the Fair Oaks Community Center on 2600 Middlefield Road <br /> HVAC equipment is now approaching the end of its projected useful life and the <br /> frequency of required repairs has increased; and <br /> WHEREAS, replace of the existing HVAC equipment is necessary and the <br /> purchase of new equipment has been included in the current budget; and <br /> WHEREAS, City staff would like to purchase new units from the same <br /> manufacturer, TRANE, because the existing control system and installation <br /> mounts are compatible and can be reused rather than replaced; and <br /> WHEREAS, modifying or replacing existing controls and mounts to <br /> accommodate equipment other than TRANE, would create delays and <br /> significantly increase the cost of the project without adding value; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City continues to install TRANE units at other City <br /> facilities, and the increased standardization of HVAC equipment throughout the <br /> City makes repair and maintenance of the units more efficient and economical. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> ATTY/RES0.2992/CC PURCHASE OF HVAC FOR FAIR OAKS COMMUNITY CENTER RE50.#15352 <br /> REV:06-12-14 VR MUFF#512 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
