07/28/2014 <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES ANALYST I/ll <br /> DEFINITION <br /> To perform professional and confidential work in one or more human resources program <br /> areas including recruitment, selection, classification and compensation, employee and <br /> labor relations, training and development, salary and benefit administration, equal <br /> employment opportunity, and occupational health and safety. <br /> DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> Human Resources Analyst I: This is the entry level class in the professional and <br /> confidential Human Resources Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the Human <br /> Resources Analyst II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to <br /> positions within this series. Receives immediate supervision from higher level professional <br /> management staff. <br /> Human Resources Analyst II: This is the full journey-level class within the professional <br /> confidential Human Resources Analyst series. Employees within this class are <br /> distinguished from the Human Resources Analyst I by the performance of the full range of <br /> duties as assigned, including working independently to develop, plan and implement <br /> projects and programs related to areas of assignment. Employees at this level receive only <br /> occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware <br /> of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. <br /> This class is distinguished from the Senior Human Resources Analyst class in that the <br /> latter exercises supervision over one or more program areas and performs more complex <br /> and responsible assignments. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Human Resources Analyst I: Receives direct supervision from the immediate supervisor <br /> and may receive indirect supervision from a higher level professional and/or management <br /> staff. <br /> Human Resources Analyst II: Receives general supervision from the Senior Human <br /> Resources Analyst and/or Human Resources Manager. May exercise technical and <br /> functional supervision over technical and clerical staff. <br /> EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> 1.
