Dr. Bell, City Manager, stated that tonight the staff is getting direction to move forward <br /> on the surplus property ordinance which would come back. He stated that if this is <br /> adopted, then the staff would come back with information on potential surplus properties <br /> and look for direction on and a framework for putting those on the market. <br /> One Council Member thanked staff for their work on this, commenting that it opens up a <br /> lot of flexibility, and he asked for an update on the previously discussed properties. <br /> Another Council Member spoke in favor of offering any surplus to other entities first <br /> before going to market, and is also in favor of having an ordinance that gives more <br /> control and takes care of our community first. <br /> Mr. Ekern stated that he does not want the City Council or public to think this is only a <br /> conversation about selling city property since it is also give the ability to lease property. <br /> 10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> Council Member Seybert stated that he represented the City at a legislative update by <br /> Kevin Mullin, Assembly Member, and discussed the topics covered, which included the <br /> Woodside 101 interchange. <br /> Council Member Pierce noted that Redwood City 2020 and its partners, which include <br /> all School Districts and the City, are having a Strategic Planning session the following <br /> morning to consider what the pressing needs are of Redwood City and the North Fair <br /> Oaks area. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust congratulated Mayor Gee who was elevated to the position of Chair of <br /> SamTrans Board of Directors. <br /> Mayor Gee thanked staff from many city departments for putting together a press <br /> conference when City Hall was closed as being above and beyond the call of duty. He <br /> invited everyone to the upcoming 4th annual Lunar New Year's Celebration this <br /> Saturday at Courthouse Square from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. <br /> B. City Council Committee Reports <br /> C. City Manager (Oral) Update — None <br /> D. City Attorney Report from Closed Session <br /> Ms. Thompson, City Attorney, said Dr. Bell, City Manager will report as this is a labor <br /> issue.
