Vice Mayor Foust would like to see a menu of options so that the Council can pick from. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust said that we want San Mateo County to be a place for everyone and <br /> for housing as well. She pointed to the development on Redwood Shores and how this <br /> has changed thanks to Mr. Keech for the partnerships he built. She believes there is a <br /> need for flexibility and if we were to present the developer with a menu of choices for a <br /> benefit package that equates to 10% or 15% or whatever that figure is. She referenced <br /> the work with the Stanford Committee and how there was a lot of thinking outside the <br /> box which might be unusual. <br /> Mayor Gee said that this will not be easy but having more data will be helpful and he <br /> heard a desire for a robust stakeholder's process. Dr. Bell said that staff might come <br /> back with a request for additional staffing via a consultant. <br /> 10. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. City Council Member Report of Conferences Attended <br /> Council Member Bain sits on two JPAs Boards and he reported on both of them - the <br /> Pre-Hospital Emergency Services Council and the Counties Emergency Services <br /> Council and he provided details on these two bodies and current initiatives. He also <br /> spoke about the drought and the communication from the Governor and how he would <br /> encourage everyone to be as considerate as possible with this resource and consider <br /> the 20% voluntary reduction. <br /> Council Member Pierce reported out on her C/CAG, CMEQ meeting and how the City of <br /> San Mateo reported on an exciting programs relating to their corporation yard and <br /> waste treatment processes and suppression of natural gas. <br /> Council Member Howard announced that she attended the Council of Cities event and <br /> she was elected to serve on the HEART Board. Mayor Gee congratulated Council <br /> Member Howard on this appointment. <br /> Vice Mayor Foust toured Ox Mountain, our landfill of our trash that cannot be recycled< <br /> and she provided details on the agreement they have with a company to place power on <br /> the grid. <br /> Council Member Aguirre attended a conference by Congresswoman Jackie Speier and <br /> she was a speaker and Council Member Foust was also in attendance. Tomorrow she <br /> will be attending the Youth of the Year event. <br /> Mayor Gee said that yesterday was a big day for SamTrans with changes to all routes — <br /> some minute some large.
