_'_' "__.
Dr. Bell summarized that the goal tonight is to get confirmation from Council that this
looks like a good plan. One Council Member noted that the budget painted was
sustainable and this is the right thing to do. Another Council Member thanked the
Department Heads for their work and process. This Council Member enjoys working with
our City staff and thanked everyone for putting this together. Vice Mayor Foust thanked
the staff including Mr. Ponty and all the staff who work in Redwood City for their work.
She recapped how the Strategic Initiatives that were instituted in 2009 originated and how
these are the fruits of that process. She said that this is a unique situation. This Council
Member concurs with funding the worker's compensation at 85% level. She feels good to
be able to give something to those who serve the community.
Mayor Gee congratulated Dr. Bell for all his work and he is amazed at how much can be
done when people work together. Mayor Gee highlighted some of the sound bites of
what is before Council and reiterate that there is consensus. The Mayor said that the
current Council and Councils' before this one have been pragmatic and visionary in order
to be where we are and looking five years out to preserve our fiscal sustainability. With
regards to funding Workers Compensation Fund the Mayor too is supportive of funding it
at 85% level and he said that there was consensus for that approach. The Council was
happy with what was presented and very pleased that the budgetary situation has
improved.
11. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST (Agenda packet page # 329)
A.
